Moving Coframes. I. A Practical Algorithm

چکیده
This is the first in a series of papers devoted to the development and applications of a new general theory of moving frames. In this paper, we formulate a practical and easy to implement explicit method to compute moving frames, invariant differential forms, differential invariants and invariant differential operators, and solve general equivalence problems for both finite-dimensional Lie group actions and infinite Lie pseudo-groups. A wide variety of applications, ranging from differential equations to differential geometry to computer vision are presented. The theoretical justifications for the moving coframe algorithm will appear in the next paper in this series. † Supported in part by an NSERC Postdoctoral Fellowship. ‡ Supported in part by NSF Grant DMS 05-05293.

Moving Coframes II. Regularization and Theoretical Foundations
The primary goal of this paper is to provide a rigorous theoretical justification of Cartan’s method of moving frames for arbitrary finite-dimensional Lie group actions on manifolds. The general theorems are based a new regularized version of the moving frame algorithm, which is of both theoretical and practical use. Applications include a new approach to the construction and classification of ...
متن کاملA PRACTICAL APPROACH TO REAL-TIME DYNAMIC BACKGROUND GENERATION BASED ON A TEMPORAL MEDIAN FILTER
In many computer vision applications, segmenting and extraction of moving objects in video sequences is an essential task. Background subtraction, by which each input image is subtracted from the reference image, has often been used for this purpose. In this paper, we offer a novel background-subtraction technique for real-time dynamic background generation using color images that are taken fro...
متن کاملMoving Frames and Moving Coframes
First introduced by Gaston Darboux, and then brought to maturity by Élie Cartan, [4], [5], the theory of moving frames (“repères mobiles”) is widely acknowledged to be a powerful tool for studying the geometric properties of submanifolds under the action of a transformation group. While the basic ideas of moving frames for classical group actions are now ubiquitous in differential geometry, the...
متن کاملA Navigation System for Autonomous Robot Operating in Unknown and Dynamic Environment: Escaping Algorithm
In this study, the problem of navigation in dynamic and unknown environment is investigated and a navigation method based on force field approach is suggested. It is assumed that the robot performs navigation in...
متن کاملطراحی محدودة بهینه نهایی در معادن روباز با روشهای اصلاح شدة مخروط شناور دو
With the advent and wide spread use of computers a number of algorithms have been developed to determine the optimum ultimate pit limits in open pit mining. The main objective of these algorithms is to find groups of blocks that should be removed to yield the maximum overall mining profit under specified economic conditions and technological constraints. The most common methods are: Lerchs and ...
